What have I signed up for?
Is this what war has always been before
My friends dying
and limbs flying
Men running towards machineguns rattling;
and getting hit and hearing their own blood splattering
Crawling through trenches
as your gut painfully wrenches
Listening and being hit from artillery firing
while getting entangled on barbed wiring;
Realizing that you must return back to base,
but you know that you must face
the wrath of your own country for not coming face to face
with death from your own race
and not knowing when you will die,
but that only you can sigh
and hope that you may live
so you can give
your fallen friends a reason for going through such strife
and giving their life
for a country who does not know
whether a soldier is alive or buried in snow
becuase a country only knows the things
that have to do with the death of living things.
